Many years ago, when I was working on an Easter talk early one morning, my son woke up and came down to see me. He was obviously reading some of my talk and asking me about it. I must have written something about the hollow Easter eggs being just like Jesus’ empty tomb. He said he liked the ‘hollow eggs that were full of God’s love!’.
Firstly, I want to acknowledge that this is my own personal reflection and experience of raising a child with a disability. I know that this experience is as different for everyone, as our children’s abilities and challenges are different.
Often when we think of making a difference, we think it needs to be something BIG to leave an impact, and must take lots of time and effort. While this is sometimes true, it is also the case that even small acts of love and kindness can make a huge difference in someone’s day, and help to leave a legacy of love wherever we go. It’s the end of a long year. It has been filled with ongoing uncertainty, huge challenges, opportunities for creativity and a reminder of the importance of connection with each other. The 2021 MOPS theme ‘Decide to Rise’ was the invitation we gave to MOPS groups- to ‘be strong’, ‘do your work’ and ‘chase joy’. Now, for 2022, we put out the call to be ‘All For Love’.
