MOPS Australia

The first MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) group was established in Colorado USA in 1973, with eight mums and their children.

The first MOPS groups began in Australia in 1991 (Victoria) and 1992 (Canberra) and since then MOPS has spread to all Australian states. MOPS Australia Inc was incorporated in 2000 and became an Affiliate of MOPS International. MOPS Australia also has groups in New Zealand and Vietnam.

MOPS Australia is a not-for-profit charity registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC), governed by a Board, and managed entirely by volunteers. MOPS Australia currently supports about 80 groups serving over 2500 mums.  To operate we rely on financial support from churches, participating MOPS mums and donations.

We receive many enquiries from mums in areas where no MOPS groups operate, and we are always keen to hear from churches interested in starting their own MOPS group to meet this need in their community.

Churches, schools and parachurch organisations that want to implement the MOPS Mission and that agree with the Faith Position Statement are eligible to charter a MOPS group.

MOPS Australia encourages and equips mums of young children to realise their potential as mothers, women and leaders, in relationship with Jesus, and in partnership with the local church.
