Is MOMcon on your bucket list? Would you like to be part of a group that is attending MOMcon in 2017? Some Australian MOPS leaders are planning to attend MOMcon in 2017 and would welcome other interested MOPS women to share the experience with them!

Would your MOPS group like to feature in next year’s MOPS calendar?
Is there a mum in your group who takes beautiful photos?

I have just returned home from MOMcon 2015 (the annual convention of MOPS International) held this year in Indianapolis, USA. Erma Mayes (MOPS Field Staff Manager) and I were just two leaders in this gathering of 2,800 MOPS women from America and around the world. MOMcon2015 promised to provide opportunities for these women to connect and grow, laugh, rest, learn and be mentored. It delivered on those promises, except maybe we didn’t rest so much.
There were over 20 workshops, and the Keynote Speakers were Sherry Surratt, Jen Hatmaker, Bob Goff, Margaret Feinberg and Amena Brown.

Yes, I have said those very words: But I Don’t Want to go to Conference!
I was in my very first year as Coordinator of Tuggeranong MOPS. I was a bit reluctant in the role, didn’t feel I was a natural leader and was feeling a little overwhelmed by the task. And I didn’t want to even think about going to Conference!

I am enjoying a new pair of glasses. Not the look of them so much – but looking through them. Suddenly everything is in clear focus. It’s so nice to be able to see again! And I can read street signs when I’m driving in my car.
Focus. Such an important thing!

Many years ago when I first discovered MOPS, I was so pleased to find a ministry I could do with my child ‘in tow’. I didn’t have to wait till my daughter was in school to be involved in worthwhile and productive ministry! When I ‘graduated’ from MOPS I thought that was the end of my MOPS ministry. But I was wrong. The following year, with no new MOPPETS leader in sight, our Coordinator asked me if I would consider giving MOPS one more year.

Thoughts of change excite our imagination and fill us with possibilities of what could be and yet the decision to make a change is enough to send many of us into a cold sweat, often causing us to live uncomfortably within our comfort zone.
Why is it that contemplating change makes us nervous and resistant? Maybe it’s the loss of identity, position or relationships we have long cultivated and the lack of confidence in future prospects that keep us from moving on when our heart is calling us to something new.

Preparation. We all do it. Some of you might be preparing right now – for a new baby, a new house, a change in jobs, a party or for friends to visit. And, depending on what you are preparing for, it can be exciting, joyful, sad, busy, overwhelming, inspirational and sometimes scary.

Most states are enjoying School Holidays and an opportunity to take a break from the school lunches, the after school activities and the early morning rising. I hope it’s been a chance to connect with your kids and enjoy that beautiful weather that only Autumn offers.
