NSW/ACT Conference 2015

21 September 2015

The NSW/ACT conference for 2015 was held at Camden Baptist Church on Saturday 12th September.

This was our second one day state conference and 11 MOPS groups were represented by 50 ladies. It was great to see 100% attendance by the ACT groups yet again. The day was hosted by the Camden MOPS group and they did a wonderful job of decorating the venue, providing wonderful food and a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere.

DSC05459After a worship session, the new Theme “A Fierce Flourishing” was introduced with an ice breaker activity. With a mix of long term experienced leaders and many new faces the ladies did their best to gather information about each other, their likes, achievements and circumstances.

DSC05476The keynote address from Lexia Smallwood touched many of us. The biblical introduction to the theme and unpacking of each area of Celebrating Lavishly, Embracing Rest and Noticing Goodness gave us all much food for thought and the open and honest sharing was really appreciated.

The keynote address was followed by further unpacking of the 3 theme areas, with you tube videos and group brainstorming.

DSC05610We also had the great pleasure of surprising Jeanette Odgers from the Panania MOPS group with the hands of MOPS award. Congratulations Jeanette.

As always the testimonies were great, reminding us how important the MOPS ministry is and what impact it has on mums and those who go on to become leaders.

DSC05686The leadership workshop presented by Chivana Thomas was a conference highlight.

DSC05774She challenged us to consider Embracing Rest as the good soil for growth, Recognising Goodness in others and in leaders as a core value and celebrating our differences everyday. The leaders identified another MOPS mum who might make a good leader and committed that woman to prayer by writing their name on a hand shape and placing it on the branches of a tree to symbolize commitment to flourishing leaders.

DSC05739The positional workshop session resulted in great networking and sharing of ideas, many of which will be implemented into next year’s programs.
DSC05735The leaders enjoyed some embracing rest time while colouring in and relaxing in the sun, enjoying good company and good food. The afternoon tea sundaes were a particular hit.

DSC05784Conference was a great time of being refreshed and re-energised for MOPS, reminding us of the impact we are having for God and putting the wheels in motion in developing programs and ideas for next years theme.
