The Monday Memo

23 January 2011

Welcome back to MOPS, I hope you have all had a great Christmas and holiday break.  This is the first of our weekly communications for 2011.  These will be posted every Monday morning and the content will vary from week-to–week.

We invite you to share:

  • If you have read a book that deserves to be shared– review it for us.
  • Have a testimony to share.
  • If you have a theme-related teaching article
  • Or you are a writer and would like to offer your services to MOPS
  • A spotlight on your group – what makes your group worth attending?
  • What you learnt from a Regional Training Day.

All articles published will be at the discretion of the editor

Flood Crisis:

For many this will not have been a relaxing holiday period, the fear of bushfires this year has been replaced by the horror of the floods that have inundated much of Australia’s eastern states and in central WA, affecting families of at least ten of our MOPS groups, to varying degrees.  Our response to date has been prayer and as the water goes down and the damage and loss calculated, we will evaluate the ways we can support the groups who have been unduly affected.

Charter Renewals:

You will now have received your Charter Renewals, Network Lists, Participation Fee and Reconciliation form with the dozen questions, for your attention.  They have been posted to the church, so check your pigeon holes if you don’t yet have them.  Can I suggest that you deal with these as soon as possible, so we can all get on with the real business of MOPS.

As promised at the National Conference we will be holding a Nationwide Walkathon to help draw awareness to MOPS as well as raise some finance.  You will be hearing more about this over the next weeks and months.  There will be prizes, free gifts and benefits for the groups that participate.  We also have the backing of some very generous sponsors.

Mark your calendar Saturday May 7 – Mothers Day weekend

Mothers on the March Walkathon.  Juelz Sanders will be coordinating the process and will be revealing information as it comes to hand.

Mumology Theme Materials.

If you have not purchased your curriculum materials, please get your orders in soon, so you will be prepared as you start out the year.  Momology is a great resource book for all your mums, so make sure your library has some copies.

Next Monday, Donna Hill will give you some ideas on how to apply the theme to your groups.  So don’t miss it.

I am looking forward to this year with great anticipation of what God can do in us and through us to touch lives for his purpose, making a difference in those who attend and working toward reaching every mother of a preschooler who need a MOPS group.
