NSW Conference Highlights

28 October 2013

The NSW/ACT conference for 2013 was held at The Christian Reformed Church of the Sutherland Shire on Saturday 19th October.
For the first time we trialled a one day conference to make it more accessible to many teams. 8 MOPS groups were represented by 43 ladies.

It was great to see 100% attendance by the ACT groups. The day was hosted by the Barden Ridge MOPS group and they did a wonderful job of decorating the venue, providing wonderful food and a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere.

After a worship session, the new Theme “A Beautiful Mess” was introduced with an ice breaker activity. In groups of 3 the ladies constructed something beautiful from the contents of their handbags. It’s amazing what creative people can come up with in 5 minutes.

This activity was a fun way to get to know each other and explore some creativity.

A You Tube Clip titled “You are his masterpiece” reinforced this years theme verse ““For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago”.

Another video entitled “Who I am: A message to all women” also reinforced that God made us beautiful just as we are and we should embrace all that he has made in us.

The keynote address from Cath Oehlman touched many of us.

“I loved Cath’s talk on Oops mess’ and “Ouch” mess’. The open and honest sharing was really appreciated”

The keynote address was followed by the leadership training DVD presentation from Lysa TerKeurst and a Mini workshop – how to tell your story. “This was a great time to reflect on our story and how best to get our message across to mum’s”

We also had the great pleasure of surprising Jenny Clisdell from the Camden MOPS group with the hands of MOPS award. Congratulations Jenny.

As always the testimonies were great, reminding us how important the MOPS ministry is and what impact it has on mums and those who go on to become leaders.

The positional workshop session resulted in great networking and sharing of ideas, many of which will be implemented into next year’s programs.

Conference was a great time of being refreshed and re-energised for MOPS, reminding us of the impact we are having for God and putting the wheels in motion in developing programs and ideas for next years theme.
