I was recently reminded of some of the funny things toddlers do when my sister told me a story about her daughter in the waiting room of the optometrist. She is 18 months and can say a few words. Bored of waiting she decided to take her book to the eight or so people also waiting. One by one she went to each of these strangers allowing them to read a couple of pages to her before she closed it and took it to the next person for their turn. After this she stood in the middle of the room did a little dance to some imaginary music and then announced in a loud voice “Big Poo!”
Sometimes things happen that we really are not prepared for and like the other people in the waiting room we are not sure about what to do about the situation. The only person that was prepared for such a situation was my sister. Fortunately she was prepared for a circumstance such as this with baby bag in hand complete with wipes, nappies and a change of clothes if necessary.
Like my sister, our Heavenly father is prepared for anything – he knows the situation before it happens and is ready and waiting for you to come to him with your need. Sometimes it feels like all the others around us are ill equipped to handle the situation, even if they have had some experience in that area before. I am reminded of a great old hymn:
