On a beautiful Saturday morning in March, Stafford MOPS held our inaugural Teddy Bears’ Picnic! The purpose of the picnic was to spread the word about our MOPS group, bless the families in our community with a free event, and raise funds for charity. God answered our prayers with gorgeous weather and lots of families with happy smiling faces.
There were ten activities for the children to enjoy, allowing them to fill in their Teddy Passports with a stamp for each completed activity. Each child also received a small prize for taking part in the morning.
The activities were:
Pin-the-heart on the Teddy
Bumble Bee toss
Making teddy ears
Picnic play with playdough
Making (and eating) fairy bread
Romeo the Radio Dog, from Brisbane family radio station 96five, entertained the kids and parents alike, providing freebies throughout the morning. Parents needs were also met with coffee supplied by Coffee Royal who kindly donated 50c from every cup towards MOPS. Our morning ended with an interactive retelling of Goldilocks and The Three Bears, narrated and performed by our talented MOPS Leaders!
A goal of the morning was to raise funds for the Teddy Love Club. This non-profit organisation provides support for parents who have suffered the loss of their baby or babies any time during pregnancy or after birth.
Many thanks go to Brisbane Kids, who helped publicise the event, and to Teddy Treasures, who generously supplied the major prizes of some gorgeous teddy bears. A big thank you also to our families who supported us by helping with the set-up, supervising activities, transporting equipment. We are looking to make our Teddy Bears Picnic a regular event to spread the word about MOPS in our neighbourhood. And finally, thanks to our event coordinator,
Goldilocks Jude Gardner 🙂
