Starting off for 2012

30 January 2012

Welcome back, after what I hope has been an enjoyable Christmas and a restful holiday break.   The holidays have come to an abrupt end and it’s back to work, getting the kids ready for school and kinder, enrolled in extra curricular activities and preparing to start the MOPS year with a new theme and some new team members.

This year’s theme verse has challenged me personally, probably more than any other in recent years.

“God does not want us to be shy with his gifts but Bold, Loving and Sensible” 2 Tim1:7 (The Message Bible).

Bold means being confident, fearless, trusting and courageous;

Loving means acting in the best interests of others, which may mean separating our feelings from our actions in order to show care and compassion

Sensible means thinking, planning, seeking wisdom from others, and not acting on impulse but out of love, courage and wisdom.

These are such wise and impactful words. However, fear often holds us back from applying them.  We are impeded by fear of failure, fear of offending and fear that our liberties will be abused and our freedom lost if we over commit ourselves.  These fears are very real and yet it is only as we work our way through the maze of obstacles that rob of us our joy and hinder our progress and development that we find true satisfaction in the calling God has placed upon our lives, and a freedom beyond what we could ever have dreamed.

My prayer for each of you this year is that as you exercise the gifts that God has given you in serving others, that you will be strengthened in your spirit, grow in your leadership ability and enjoy the fruits of your labour.

We have another busy year coming up:

For those who do not have their Curriculum Materials, now is the time to order!

Regional Training Days:

Plan for your Team to attend.  Your Regional Coordinator will let you know the times soon.

They are fun, informative and a chance for you to get to know the other leaders in your area and share knowledge and experiences.

Participation Fee:  February – June

I will be a mailing out the new survey form and individual forms along with a letter to all the Coordinators.  They will be due back by the end of June.

Mothers on the March: Walkathon 28th April

This is a MOPS Awareness Campaign and yearly 50/50 Fundraiser.  You will receive your transfers and marketing kit in the mail in the next two weeks.

This year we have simplified the process, thanks to the feedback from so many.

MOPS Australia is committed to this and we would like you to make it a part of your annual MOPS calendar.  The benefits to MOPS Australia have been significant and the increased awareness has been quite measurable.  The impact will only increase as we continue to make known that “mothering matters” and that “better mums make a better world” and that MOPS groups are a way to make that happen.

I look forward to working with you all this year. Our team is here to support you so you need never feel alone!

Margaret Sanders

National Director
