On Tuesday August 2nd Donna Hill and I are off to Nashville for the MOPS International Convention. For many, this is on their Top 10 list of things they would like to do during their time in MOPS.
This was not my initial reaction. Not that I didn’t want to go, but I am a planner. I have to go through the twenty questions and ask myself: What are my responsibilities? What are my priorities? What is my purpose? What will the benefits be? Is this the best use of my time? How will it affect others? How will I cope with my workload? With many of the questions now answered and appointments booked every day with key people at the MOPS International Office, I am happy that this is not just an exciting journey but one that will benefit me and all of us at MOPS Australia.
We are all on our “Journey of a lifetime”. A journey requires a destination, a purpose and an action. We have all heard of armchair travellers, those who dream of exploring exotic places or conquering great feats but they never get off their seat to achieve their dream, while others overcome extreme hardships to realise their goals.
Fear of failure ranks among the most debilitating phobias known to man. It is easier not to try something than to risk falling short of the desired outcome. Think of films you have watched, or books you have read. How would your life story compare?
The older I get, the more I am aware of the wasted years, the foolish attitudes, the fears that held me back from challenging the obstacles, and the excuses I made for not achieving my dreams and goals. I would love my story to portray a woman who lived life to its full potential, having taken advantage of all the gifts that God has bestowed on me and embracing all the opportunities he has presented to me.
You are on the journey of a lifetime. Many are reading your story daily. Where are you headed, what’s your destination? As you establish your individual purpose you will make your dream happen.
Better Mum magazine is hot off the press, this is our first ever “glossy” and it is a free gift to all attending Conference. Otherwise, the price is $3.00. We have printed enough for every MOPS mum in Australia, so I hope you will like it and take a copy back for every mum.
Conferences are for the benefit of every leader to strengthen your skills and to equip you for the challenges of leading a group, both practically and emotionally.
I look forward to seeing you there.
