Refuelled

MOPS Australia exists to encourage and equip mums of young children to realise their potential as mothers, women and leaders in relationship with Jesus, and in partnership with the local church. This mission statement not only applies to the women from communities all over Australia that walk into a MOPS group each fortnight, but to the women that serve by running these groups. This year, over 300 of those women gathered in various locations at our state leadership training conferences.

MOPS Australia is committed to leadership training and each year invests in their leaders at local, state and national levels. We know that each leader is a blessing to the group at which she serves, and we want to ensure she feels not only blessed in return but also equipped in the leadership role that she holds.

State Conferences in 2018 saw leaders explore next year’s theme for MOPS – Find Your Fire – which allowed for a lot of fun and also some very special moments. Leaders walked into venues adorned with fiery decor. We dressed to impress in red-hot outfits. There were literal flames used to entertain and get creative. Most importantly, we found our fire as we were challenged to live expectantly, breathe freely, and surrender daringly.

Each Conference was incredibly fortunate to hear from MOPS leaders, Board Members and guest speakers on topics such as the Find Your Fire theme, leadership development, connecting with our community, and our identity in Christ. Through times of worship and shared stories, we were able to connect with each other and with God, as we were encouraged in the service to which we have been called. Specific MOPS training was also undertaken through sessions for our Welcome, Meeting and Connection teams, as well as MOPS Kids leader training. State Conferences also allowed MOPS Australia the opportunity to recognise the hard work and dedication of MOPS leaders through the presentation of annual awards.

At MOPS Australia, we want every mum that attends MOPS to have fun and feel connected, and for the MOPS leaders to be the best leaders they can be. The prayer of the Management Team and the Board is that leaders have been refuelled and found refreshment at conference. We are here to support and encourage leaders and value the opportunity that conferences provide for them to hear what is happening through MOPS around each state and around the country as they catch the vision for the heartbeat of this unique community ministry.

I love The Passion Translation of our theme verse for next year that says:

Be enthusiastic to serve the Lord, keeping your passion toward him boiling hot! Radiate with the glow of the Holy Spirit and let him fill you with excitement as you serve him. Let this hope burst forth within you, releasing a continual joy. Don’t give up in a time of trouble, but commune with God at all times. Take a constant interest in the needs of God’s beloved people and respond by helping them. And eagerly welcome people as guests into your home. [Romans 12:11-13 TPT]

Our leaders have just started to unpack next year’s theme and they are getting all fired up – boiling hot – ready to serve with hope, excitement and joy. Ready to welcome mums through their doors. Ready to shine the light of hope into their lives.
